Pomalyst, oprozomib, and dex clinical trial

Our daughter started a clinical trial of Pomalyst, oprozomib, and dex. Yesterday after the first cycle, we were shown that her numbers went down drastically. Side effects are minimal except for fatigue, but if it works this well, it is worth it. So hopefully this will put her in CR and we will move on to the next step.

We were told oprozomib is the pill form of carfilzomib (Kyprolis) and, in August, she did carfilzomib with dex, but it didn't work. Adding the Pomalyst made a difference. Even the DCEP she did in November didn't work like they thought, but took a mighty toll on her body.

So, for now, this trial is the combo to do.

This is great news Terri. You and your daughter deserve a breakthrough after all she's been through. Wishing you long term success with this regimen.

Thank you Multibilly. Something is working, so that's good. Fatigue is bothersome, but it is worth it now that she knows the trial is working.

I don't have all the numbers, but after 1 cycle, her protein went from 2000 to 300, and kappa light chains went from 2700 to 25. I think Dr. Cohen was even surprised at the new numbers. Hoping it continues.

Has she asked for something for the fatigue? Maybe they can treat her for it and that will help with her QOL.
