I'm coming out of my second remission after having used:
Revlimid - Velcade - dex
Autologous stem cell transplant
Maintenance with subcutaneous (subQ) Velcade
My doctor has recommended the combination of Pomalyst (pomalidomide), Cytoxan (cyclophosphamide), and dex.
Is there any one using this combination and, if so, what have been the side effects?

Re: Pomalyst + Cytoxan + dex - experiences?
Richard:
I have been on Pomalyst about 6 months after my light chains were going south. First 2 mg, which made no improvement. Then on to 4 mg, one cycle of improvement, then wrong direction again. After examining my options with my oncologist at Shands, we decided to add dexamethasone 20 mg per week with the 4 mg Pomalyst. Immediate improvement after 1 cycle – about a 75% improvement in the light chains.
After 2 more cycles with continued improvement, he decided to add the Cytoxan and take away the dex because of my complaining about so much fatigue and the dex keeping me up all night when I take it. The Cytoxan made me real sick, so I stopped it and asked him to put me back on dex and listen to me complain.
I will find out at my next visit next Wednesday if it's still working. Not sure how I could ever tolerate 3 drugs.
Best of luck to you Richard

My hubby has been on Pomalyst 3 mg and dex 20 for 6 months with wonderful results. His M proteins have dropped significantly and side effects are low. The only low number is his neutrophils, so he catches a cold easily. Very pleased.

I am not looking forward to this, especially all 3 drugs at once, but thanks for the responses. From what I have heard, Pomalyst has worked quite well.

Getting three drugs at once is very common, for example Velcade, Cytoxan and dex. The Velcade is an incredibly small amount, but enough to mess with the myeloma cells' repair mechanisms, so they die of old age or the other drugs can kill them.
And remember that different combinations may be needed as different cancer sub clones are suppressed or emerging.
Don't lose hope just because you have to switch chemo treatments.
