Please help with lab work

by MeganY24 on Mon Mar 11, 2013 6:00 pm

I've been having trouble with back pain for the last 6 months. The only finding on X-ray was mild scoliosis. A month ago I started having upper abdominal pain and the ultrasound showed scarring on one of my kidneys along with a cyst. A week ago I began having strange episodes were my right leg gets cramped and goes completely numb. It has happened twice and it feels like someone has a tight band wrapped around my thigh/knee with a blow torch on the back of it. I spent the entire weekend waiting on my lab work to come back expecting to have lupus or MS but instead the only levels that were elevated were my BUN, BUN/creatinine ratio and my calcium, protein serum, and albumin were borderline high. My sodium level was also borderline low. I'm really trying not to over analyze this but everything I search comes up with multiple myeloma. Is it possible to have cancer if my white and red blood counts are well within range?

Megan, please don't panic. You indicated that you had some borderline high results with several items...borderline high albumin is a good thing. Obviously, you need to be talking to your doctor about all of this, particularly, the kidney issue so everything can be investigated. However, you cannot draw a conclusion that you have multiple myeloma based on anything you have outlined...seriously.
