Please help me understand the Myeloma test report

by rajgopalsinghal on Mon Feb 25, 2013 6:30 am

My Mother was Diagnoised with multiple myeloma 4 months back & had for rounds of Velcade. Last week Doc has ordered some tests & here are the results. Please explain if the myeloma is decreasing.

Test Result
Kappa Light Chain 10.1
Lambda Light Chain 5.4
Kappa Lambda Ratio 1.85

Haemoglobin 12.7
White Cell Count 9000
Neutrophils 70
lymphocyte 15
eosinophil 7
monocyte 8

Platelets Count 5.8 Lakhs/cu.millimeter
Serum Calcium 9.7
Serum Creatinine 0.9
M-Protein is Absent.

Please tell if the disease has been cured? Am worried about the low levels of lambda, high level of kappa-lambda ratio & high levels of Platelets? Do I need to worry? Couldn't meet with her doctor as she is on leave & am really worried about the reports. Please Help.

Thanks in anticipation.

Please, send me the initial results at the diagnosis and i will help you as i can. I have to let you kow that multiple myeloma is considered incurable, but operational cures can be obtained.

Preliminarily, these results appear good, but I agree that we need the initial pre-treatment results to give you a better idea as to what degree your mother has responded to treatment. Also, let us know the units that are being used for the light chain measurement (for example, mg/L or mg/dL). Thanks!
