Platelets have dropped a month after transplant

by Pioneer on Tue Sep 27, 2016 3:02 pm

I had my stem cell transplant in August. My day zero was August 13, 2016. I am concerned about my blood counts since my discharge. I had a few blood tests (hemogram - CBC ) and here are the results:

Date Platelets WBC RBC
Sep 02 110 2.8 10.2
Sep 09 142 2.9 11.0
Sep 22 108 3.1 12.5

My question is: Why did my platelets go down after 20 days? My doc says it is not normal, but it is also not weird.

Also, when do counts go back to pre-stem cell transplant levels?

Thanks a lot

Hi Pioneer,

I will be 4 years post autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) in November. I did 10 mg Revlimid for 1.5 years, then 5 mg for a year. I stopped all the treatment except Zometa every 3 months. My platelets are barely even 100 now. While I was on Revlimid, they were 60 and below. You just have to be careful.

Wishing you the best.

Thanks Kaew.

Now my platelets are 144. I think they went down because of Zometa, which I got right after the stem cell transplant.
