Reading about plasmacytomas, I'm curious if you can have one if you're under treatment with your multiple myeloma in control? Not clear if you can get these after/during treatment.

Re: Plasmacytomas - can they occur during / after treatment?
Hi Jerry,
In my experience - yes. My m-spike has been low (between 0.35 and 0.95), and my other numbers have been decent and I feel good, but I have large plasmacytomas on my skull. They are going to do radiation this week. I wish they would have done it last month, but they've been wanting to treat it systemically. But now it looks like the plasmacytomas are starting to push into my brain space. They think 5 sessions should do the trick.
I had them at diagnosis and they went away with treatment. They started to come back during cycle 6 of RVD, but went away from the harvest and transplant chemo and then returned 8 weeks post transplant.

Re: Plasmacytomas - can they occur during / after treatment?
Thanks for the input. I was reading many posts but they all seem to refer to plasmacytomas prior to treatment. I'm on maintenance and trying learn what to look out for during this period.

Hello from sunny Seattle (today at least),
Short answer ... It is possible to get a plasmacytoma while multiple myeloma appears to be in control. This does not occur often though.
