pet scan

My doctor is wanting to do a pet scan due to increased pain in my neck. I have degenerative disc disease. I am wondering if this is really necessary with a MGUS diagnosis. I am concerned about false positives due to my inflammation. I am also concerned about recieving so much radiation at 38 years old. Any advice?
