I had some days ago a PET-CT scan and I have just received the results, which I cannot fully understand.
I have a mixed osteolytic / osteosclerotic lesion in vertebral body, where minimally increased FDG uptake is present. The report indicates that the finding is not specific enough for active myeloma, but incipient neoplasm can be present.
Could this mean that maybe I am relapsing? Did somebody else have a similar experience?
Thank you very much
Friendly regards,

Re: Do my PET-CT results indicate I am relapsing?
Hi NIki,
I am not a doctor, so I don't know if this is a sign of relapse. But, my doctors were having a difficult time diagnosing my active myeloma. I only have sclerotic lesions of the bone, no lytic lesions. This was confusing at first because myeloma is typically presented with lytic lesions. They diagnosed me with osteosclerotic myeloma, an extremely rare form of the disease. Since these lesions were signs of bone destruction, the disease was considered active and I am beginning prep work for my stem cell transplant.
So, I would think that your results warrant more investigation?
Good Luck!
Debbie

Niki,
Is your specialist looking at doing a biopsy of the possible neoplasm to determine what significance it has?
