Hi everyone,
My father today had his second bone marrow biopsy. It has been approximately 12 hours since the biopsy, but he is under immense pain. He is not able to even stand or walk. He has difficulty changing sides during lying down, and the pain is unbearable even when he is lying.
In his first biopsy, he didn't feel any pain.
Please tell what can be done to reduce the pain. Also, is it possible that there could be an adverse effect of the biopsy as he is under such pain?
Waiting for your help, thanks.

Re: Immense pain after bone marrow biopsy
I think you should call a doctor, or go see a doctor. Good luck.

Call the doctor that did the biopsy right away and let them know of the situation. The doctor will know what is not normal. You may need some pain pills for the next couple of days. It should be a gradual improvement. Good luck.

Re: Immense pain after bone marrow biopsy
I have had 5 bone marrow biopsies. Out of that, 1 had pain like you are talking about. No one knew what was wrong, but my chiropractor discovered a blood clot in my butt cheek. The doctor who did the biopsy got too close to the spine and caused a blood clot the size of a baseball. Once I told the doctor about it, he did agree with the chiropractor.
I went to the chiropractor 2x a week for a couple weeks and thru massage he finally broke it up.
I'd get a hold of my doctor if I were you.
