David, overall, it sounds like things are going well. The germ obsession will likely continue for some time after she is done in there! I'm out now almost 11 weeks, and I'm still concerned, but I am gradually relaxing.

Keep walking with your IV friend together. My staff let me write on a whiteboard three things I wanted them to do for me everyday, and I put "tell me a joke of the day" on there. It really helped to lighten things a bit and was very helpful.

Day +8

Liz is starting to feel the effects. She has been sleeping most of the day and has little to no appetite. The Ativan is keeping the nausea away. She is experiencing some diarrhea. No fever yet, but her doctor says that when the white blood cells start coming back that she should expect a mild spike in her temperature.

Day +11

Liz is feeling good. Her counts are up and she is now able to leave the room for walks. The best news is that we are going home tomorrow.

Hi David,

I was just about to post to say that I hope Liz is doing well, and then I saw your update from a few minutes ago.

What wonderful news that Liz will be able to go home tomorrow. She must be recovering really well. Is the worst of the diarrhea and nausea over? How long did the worst part last?

I hope you and the rest of the family are holding up well and that the process hasn't created too much stress for all of you. Give Liz our best, and tell her that we all hope she continues to recover quickly and strongly!

Day +7 was her worst day, and really not that bad at all. Mild diarrhea, some nausea. The rest of her stay was uneventful.

We will be leaving the hospital in 45 minutes.

I'm glad to hear that Liz's experience wasn't so bad. The whole process seems to vary so much from person to person. The most important thing right now is that your wife is coming home, and that she seems to be getting stronger every day.
