The Oscar nominations for best picture were announced recently. Here are the movies that were nominated:
- 127 Hours
- Black Swan
- Inception
- The Fighter
- The Kids Are All Right
- The King's Speech
- The Social Network
- Toy Story 3
- True Grit
- Winter's Bone
I've only seen two of the movies, Inception and Toy Story 3. They both were really, really good. Actually, both surprised me in terms of how well done they were.
I'm going to guess, though, that The King's Speech will win, since it seems to be such a heavy favorite. I'll wait, though, to see it when it's out on DVD.
Any other predictions and recommendations from among the movies nominated? Any movies that should have been nominated, but weren't?

Re: Oscar for Best Picture - Predictions? Reviews?
I've also seen "Inception" and can confirm that it's an excellent film. Great story. Great acting. Great cinematography. It's not a film to watch while you're multitasking, though, because you'll miss too much. It requires concentration and even a willingness to go back and watch certain parts over again.
I've also seen that The King's Speech is a heavy favorite to win the Best Picture Oscar. The fact that it is such a heavy favorite, though, makes me wonder if the Oscar voters may feel like they need to give more serious consideration to some of the other options, just to prove that they're not predictable.

Re: Oscar for Best Picture - Predictions? Reviews?
I saw Black Swan last night. I was very surprised at how "dark" a film it was - very disturbing for me. But then again, I usually go for the light and comedic!
The acting was great, as well as the scenes. I don't know if it will win or not ......

The King's Speech will likely win as a feel-good story about nice proper people over-coming human difficulty. 127 Hours and Black Swan are also about overcoming challenges, but the extreme emotional and physical aspects of these films may not win a popular vote. Living through any part of my multiple myeloma drama was nowhere near the pain and suffering of the character in 127 Hours. It's an amazing story.
