My mom is currently covered under my Dad's insurance. He is getting near to retirement, and it would be a big help for my mom to have him around, but then the insurance question comes into debate. My mom won't be eligible for Medicare for three years, but we are looking for other options at this point besides Medicare in the future.
Does anyone have experience with other insurances to purchase, Obamacare, etc. that will cover transplants?
Thanks!

Re: Do any Obamacare plans cover allo transplants?
I'm not sure what plans are specific to Obamacare, just be sure to carefully read over the insurance plans. We have Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana and they didn't cover it. My husband went ahead with the allo and after treatment was completed we took legal action. Our attorney did tell us that 80% of the BCBS around the country cover it, Montana just didn't. They considered it experimental & investigative, which it isn't. Best of luck to you!
Re: Do any Obamacare plans cover allo transplants?
Look at the plans that are available in your area and decide which might fit your circumstances and pocket the best. Then call the company and ask specific questions that you want answered, such as whether the plan would cover an allo transplant.

Re: Do any Obamacare plans cover allo transplants?
There really is no such thing as an ObamaCare health insurance plan. Obamacare, the ACA, is simply an insurance exchange that allows you to view many, many plans side by side at the same time. All of these plans are sold by the various private insurance companies, like a Blue Cross / Blue Shield, United Health Care, etc. Obamacare simply set minimum standards of coverage that every insurance policy must offer. You also have the option of working with an insurance broker to purchase a plan that you review on the exchange at healthcare.gov. Working with a broker costs you nothing and their insight to each plan is invaluable.
