All my immunoglobulins have been very low since my transplant in September 2011. For the last two tests run, the IgM is normal, first time since transplant. Has anyone had this happen?
Thanks for any input.

Re: IgM normal after being low for 4 years
Hi Mary,
There are a couple possible explanations for what you're seeing. Before starting to guess at which one makes most sense, however, there are a few questions worth asking.
First, have you been on maintenance therapy since your transplant? If so, has there been any change in your maintenance therapy during, or just before, the change in your IgM level?
Second, when your IgM level went up, did you notice any uptick in any of your white blood cell counts?
I guess I'd also be curious what your type (IgA, IgG, etc.) of multiple myeloma was when you were diagnosed. I'm guessing you weren't IgM, since it's quite rare.

Re: IgM normal after being low for 4 years
Cheryl,
I have been off and on maintenance since transplant. Most recently I was without treatment for 4 months. I just started Pomalyst 4 mg 3 weeks ago. The IgM was normal for the first time at June checkup and then again at October checkup. I was put on Pomalyst because my kappa light chains were rising. My white blood count had been around 7 most of the time.
I go back to doctor November 13 for bloodwork. His plan is to keep me on this treatment hoping it will bring my light chains down and then go on a lower dose of Pomalyst.
Thanks Mary
