Good evening. I've had multiple myeloma for four years now. Other than my labwork, I never feel sick, in pain, or have any other symptoms that would remind me I have this disease. I'm as active as ever and I feel I am in the best shape of my life.
Is it my age which may be helping me minimize symptoms?
I'm 36 and have had two autologous stem cell transplants.

Re: Now have no multiple myeloma symptoms - is that common?
For what it's worth, I'm 56, was diagnosed two years ago, have had a stem cell transplant, and also feel great. I think a big part of it is that they caught the disease before any significant bone or kidney damage had occurred.

Re: Now have no multiple myeloma symptoms - is that common?
Same here ... no multiple myeloma symptoms here. I'm 58 years old and was diagnosed a year ago, had 5 cycles of VRD followed by a SCT in Feb. 2014. I feel as good now as I did several years before I was diagnosed, even with a few minor side effects from maintenance treatments of low dose Revlimid / dex. My workouts are back to what they were before I was diagnosed. I was lucky to have not had any bone or kidney problems when diagnosed.
One huge improvement for me is that I used to get frequent headaches (with increasing frequency as I got closer to my diagnosis), but now I might get one every 3-4 months or less. I always wondered what it would be like to live headache free. I love it!
