No lytic lesions but severe anemia

by pawnee321 on Sat Jun 18, 2011 10:31 am

I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in March. Full skeletal x-rays and a CT revealed no lesions or bone issues. However, I had a Hg of 4.5. My IgG was 2200, M-protein 1.6, plasma cells 20%. Since March I've been transfused with 17 units of blood and I just received my 15th treatment of VDT. My new numbers: 1,000, .5 and 3%. My question is this: Any one out there who has had similar symptoms--no lesions and severe anemia? Thanks.

Hi
My name is Michelle and my main symptom too was the low HGB but nowhere near as low as you - I was 10, BMB 80% and IgG around 4000. and M spike 3. Everyone is so different,
I have just finished 4 cycles or RVD. M spike has leveled out at 1.5, HGB about the same so will be trying Vel/Dex/Cytoxan.

My husband was diagnosed June 2010, and also had low hemoglobin (7.41) and no bone lesions. His IgG was over 10,000, Kappa 2950, and he has deletion 13q with P53 deletion. He went through six cycles of RVD, finishing that in January. He has since been on maintenance Revlimid. His most recent tests showed hemoglobin at 14.3, IGg of 624 and Kappa at 124. We will get the results of his BMB and skeletal survey (done earlier this month) on Friday.

Hi ,
I am always fighting with anemia but I have kidney failure too and i am on dialysis. It's the most frustrating thing, I am always on my way down if i am not getting IV iron and epogen shots. The amounts are adjusted all the time and it is hard to keep up with. The fatigue is what I struggle with most and it is not good for your heart longt erm. I am not allowed to go over 12 HG (dialysis issues)so it is a fine line to balance on.
I hope your doctor gets right on that and you feel better soon.
