I think you are missing the "or" in the "and/or" in the staging for smoldering myeloma. My M-spike is 2.0 g/dL, but my plasma cells are 10% and I have no CRAB, so I'm smoldering, not MGUS.

For smoldering myeloma, its' simply that you are

Smoldering Multiple Myeloma (SMM)

Characteristics

Serum M protein >3 g/dL and/or bone marrow plasma cells ≥10%

Absence of anemia, renal failure, hypercalcemia, lytic bone lesions

Now, if you truly have anemia, you technically are neither MGUS or smoldering. But perhaps you are borderline anemic and that is why your doc classified you as smoldering/indolent? What are your HGB, RBC and Hematocrit levels (and do your lab tests show that you are out of range for their standards)?

As far as your m-spike level is concerned, you need to provide your units of measure. You may just be off by a factor of 10 depending on what units your lab is using for your m-spike.
