Newly diagnosed in Richmond, Virginia

by saturnhartwig on Sun Mar 31, 2019 7:39 am

Howdy.

I'm newly diagosed with multiple myeloma. I was working driving a fuel truck delivering gasoline to a station and my femur broke. My leg had been sore for a while and I had no idea. I have a rod, screws, and a nail im my femur and am healing. I just started Revlimid, Velcade, and dex. They also found a spot on my bladder. I was a healthy, 53-year-old husband of 29 years with two grown children and two grandchildren. My wife was diagnosed last October with Parkinson's and then this happens. We will just do our best.

I like to collect vinyl records and hopefully will get somewhat back to normal.

I look forward to meeting some new folks and this new chapter in my life.

Dave,

I welcome you, regrettably, to this forum. You will find an amazing number of caring folks here from every possible background and with just about every kind of experience myeloma brings.

My first round of treatment was the same as yours. It cut my "bad" numbers in half in just three weeks. Unfortunately, I was allergic to Revlimid. Hopefully you will have great success with that treatment.

You have a double blow, with your wife's Parkinson's. Perhaps her treatment is better understood.

We will be watching for further updates!
