I went in yesterday and they took my blood to see where my anemia is at. If it is the same or lower I am doing a blood transfusion today. So you all can rest, thank you for your concern, will update later where it is at and if I need the transfusion.

dee, was just wondering whether you ended up needing a transfusion. Hoping you can give us an update.

Seems anemia is not the main concern right now, I am waiting for a call back to see if I need to go in for dialysis.

Dear Dee777,

I agree with the others. Your degree of anemia is striking and, with 56% plasma cells in your marrow, I strongly suspect that the myeloma is the direct cause of your anemia (FYI, those are myeloma plasma cells in your marrow -- not an excess of normal ones. Although some benign conditions can cause increased levels of plasma cells, none of those conditions cause levels as high as 56%. Plus, the missing chromosomes 8 and particularly 13 are indicative that these are malignant/cancerous plasma cells and not benign plasma cells).

You mention dialysis. Are your kidneys starting to shut down, or did you mean a blood transfusion? If your kidneys are sutting down, that is a medical emergency that needs to be dealt with now.

I would strongly advise that you supplement your dietary strategy with a standard treatment strategy now. As the others have mentioned, treatment for myeloma has gotten markedly better and most everyone will have a terrific response to their initial therapy.

Let us know how we can help.

Best of luck to you!

Take care,

Pete V.
