New member - from MGUS to myeloma requiring treatment

by suenu on Mon Sep 21, 2015 11:59 pm

My name is Susan. I am 71. I was diagnosed with MGUS and then smoldering myeloma about 6 years. About 4 months ago, I began chemo but developed a bad case of C. diff which went undiagnosed and I was hospitalized for a week and taken off chemo. I see my doctor next week to decide what the next steps are. I am approved for a stem cell transplant, but find that very scary and have lots of questions.

I have had to leave my home of 20 years to move in with my sister and brother in law in a new town. I am grateful to them, but this is a huge adjustment for me. I am far from friends and activities.

Glad I found the Beacon and look forward to participating and getting some feedback.
