I was diagnosed with stage II multiple myeloma in January 2014. My treatment began with 4 cycles of cyclophosphamide, Velcade, and dexamethasone (CyBorD), followed by an autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT). I received infusions of Zometa every 2 months for 2 years. For maintenance, I take 10 mg of Revlimid daily.
I've responded well to treatment and have been enjoying my life. On days when I feel good, I do something I love. On days when I'm tired, I rest. I've regained most of the strength I lost during treatment, and I've been feeling great lately.
I am thankful for the treatment options that now exist, and am grateful for the health care professionals (e.g., doctors, nurses, physicians assistants, nurse practitioners) who have worked to keep me well.
Treatment works, at least for some, and I've found most side effects to be manageable.

Re: Nearly 3 years in & grateful
Hi MW Grace:
Congrats on your 3 year anniversary! I am sorry you had to join our illustrious club, but everyone here is very nice, and I certainly have learned a lot about our disease through the people on this forum.
Your treatment sounds very similar to mine; CyBorD - mine was 6 cycles though; autologous stem cell transplant; Zometa monthly (for 18 months), and now maintenance Revlimid (5 mg). I didn't tolerate the 10 mg very well. You are about a year and a half ahead of me though, so I am sure I can learn a lot from your experiences.
I didn't notice that you included what type of myeloma you have (if you don't mind my asking). I have lambda light chain myeloma.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday, and wish you the very best.
Kathleen
