Nausea and fatigue while on Revlimid (post RVD)

by Ellen Harris on Sat Aug 30, 2014 7:16 pm

Have completed 6 cycles of RVD (Revlimid, Velcade, dexamethasone). Off treatment this last week with the exception of Revlimid. I am on 10 mgs daily. Feel nauseous and very fatigued especially today. Also feeling jittery.

I have had some days like this before, but today seems worse than usual. Spoke to my oncologist a few days ago. Bloodwork from previous week looked good, in fact showing some improvement in kidney function. Creatinine down to 1.1 - 1.2. Down from 1.35 where it has been for a couple of months.

I have light chain IgA kappa multiple myeloma. Light chains in 30 range.

Could fatigue and nausea be related to not having dex and/or premedication received during chemo? I feel like I have been hit by a truck.

Zofran [ondansetron] and Compazine [prochlorperazine] did nothing for the nausea.

Would appreciate comments my friends. Thanks in advance.

Hi Ellen,

I found being proactive with nausea works best and domperidone (Motilium) is really good for this. It works by tightening the muscles at the top of the stomach and speeding up the way food is moved through the stomach. This stops you feeling full and uncomfortable and does reduce nausea. You need to take it about 20 mins before food for best effect.

I'm not sure about the fatigue being nausea related, it can make you feel tired constantly fighting nausea, but you should check out other causes.

Thanks Jen. I have taken Motilium before but not recently. I will try it again.
