Myeloma treatment centers in northern California?

by blair77 on Thu Aug 07, 2014 1:42 pm

We just moved to California outside of San Francisco. I am trying to find the best facility for my husband to continue his care.

I have been having a really hard time setting up a new patient at UCSF (the new patient coordinators mailbox is full and it just hangs up on you)!

Any other ideas of best places? Stanford maybe?

Hope your move went smoothly, Blair, and that you and your husband are settling into your new home.

You probably already know about the Beacon's list of myeloma treatment centers, but, just in case, here's a link to it:

As you suspected, Stanford is on the list, as is UCSF and also UC Davis. We've had people post here in the forum before about UC Davis, but it seems to have been a while. Forum member KimT, who is currently preparing for her stem cell transplant, will be doing it at Stanford.

Lived in San Francisco for 12 years and have good friend there also with multiple myeloma. My wife also had BMT at UCSF which has excellent hematology / oncology service.

Contact Drs Jeff Wolfe or Tom Martin in the multiple myeloma service if interested. Best of luck.

I do not know Dr. Wolf or Dr. Martin on a personal basis, but both are excellent.
