Ongoing research is investigating whether human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-Cw5 or HLA-Cw2 may play a role in the pathogenesis of multiple myeloma.
I found the statement above on the EMedicineMedscape website in a Myeloma definiton. Is anyone aware of who might be doing the antigen reseach mentioned ? Thanks

Re: Myeloma Genetics
Hi Marti,
I'm not a biochemist or geneticist, so I can't answer your question with a lot of certainty. However, I think there is lot of research going on related to antigens and myeloma. See, for example, the results of this search at Pubmed.gov,
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=antigen%20myeloma
Specifically regarding HLA-Cw2 and -Cw5, it appears that most of that research was done 10-30 years ago. See these links for some references:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=cw2%20myeloma
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=cw5%20myeloma
Hope this helps.
