Hi all!
My dad was diagnosed with multiple myeloma three years ago. thanks to the doctors for the right diagnosis and treatment, he has been doing well. monthly check up on his CBC, creatinine , calcium, Kappa, lambda chains etc show no signs of relapse. he has been under thalidomide 100mg for three years and his dose was reduced a month ago to 50mg. we are somehow hesitant to go for a bone marrow transplant which has been suggested. However, he has body pain occasionally, slow reaction times, severe cramps in the leg.
The reason of concern is the known side-effects of the drug being administered. also, he has been having hematuria from past three days which has given rise to fear and anxiety in him.
Have the sideeffects on kidney caused this? or is it just a false alarm! yet to find out.
With great difficulty he has come into terms with his new life after illness and i dont want him to relive any of those moments again ever!

Re: Myeloma for 3 years - responding well to treatment so fa
first off I'm a 35 year old women, so this might not be the same as an older male.
i've had blood in urine, but it has been from bladder (uti) infection and cleared up with antibiotics (Cipro).
So I would try not to worry yet! What did the doctor say?

When my husband's platelets get low, his doc always tells him to be on the lookout for blood in his urine.
