Hi all....I've beeen lurking for awhile and decided it was time to register. I was dx with multiple myeloma in late Oct of 2010 and started treatment in Nov. I had Velcade and dex for 4 cycles, then vel, dex, and doxil for 4 cycles and am now 1 week in of vel, dex, rev. The vel, dox, dex had the m-protein down to .6, the lowest its been in app. 3 years, but the protein cell is still at 47%
Trying to get the count down so I can get a SCT
I have IgA lambda, the same as my mother had. She was 75 when she was dx'ed in 1998 and she passed away Dec. 2008 at 85 yrs young. She had minimal treatment. Some chemo
and zometa. and quit taking any treatment and still lived for 14 months.
My father also had a blood disorder PV and then his last 6 months it did a flip flop to AML.
He passed away in 1981 just weeks short of 64 yrs young. I am an only child so I've become pretty acustomed to this blood business. I'm 63 now and am planing on living at least to 75 which was when mom was dx. That would give me 12 yrs with this darn disease. I think we all should have goals, but still take it a day at a time.
It's a beautiful sunny day of close 90 d, so think I'll go out and enjoy it.
Have a good one!
