My husbands myeloma
My husband, 72 years old. A young 72. Very active, one pill at night. No symptons. Physical every six months, protein spiked and diagnosed with myeloma end of December. Velcade didn't work, under went 4 days of 24/7 chemo, in April. Died a week later at home. Blood clot. This is a terrible disease and when they say incurable but good news is that it is treatable is giving people hope where there isn't much. Living with treatment would have been no life for my husband. A blessing he passed as he did. Didn't have to live with the devastating effects of myeloma.
Re: My husbands myeloma
I'm so sorry to hear that your husband's battle with myeloma ended so soon. Unfortunately, while some respond well to treatment there are others who either don't respond or have traumatic side effects. This is still a disease that takes a terrible toll on the lives of its victims and their loved ones.
I have been in this battle since 2006 and have never achieved remission. It has been a constant battle from one treatment to the next but I have survived and as long as I have more good days than bad ones, I will continue to battle.
I hope you can find comfort in the memories of the good times you had together. My thoughts are with you.
