Hi, just wanted to introduce us and give BIG THANKS to those who post. My dad was cured from his Head and Neck CA annnnd here I am on another forum... He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in June-56 years old.
He is almost done with cycle 4 of REV DEX Zometa-getting geared up for harvest and ASCT. (spike down to .6 -so blessed & thankful).
I have gotten over my anger that he is now up for this battle. This forum has provided comfort and info-thank you.
Any advice for you could provide on what to expect during the ASCT would be appreciated. I am haunted by memories of our first hospital experience w/ his first cancer. They over dosed his pain Meds (narcotic naive patient). He went into respiratory arrest-my uncle found him, hit he code button. the outcome was a blessing. But now, I find myself reliving that 7 yrs later.
Hugs and love to all

Re: My good ole dad and me
Hello Wrast5423,
I'm sorry to hear about your father's myeloma and the struggles he has had with cancer in general.
Stem cell transplants are a frequent topic here on the forum, so it can be challenging to find the postings that are particularly relevant to your situation and to the questions you have.
I did this search, however, which will bring up all the discussion threads that have "transplant" in the title. I think that, if you go through them, you might find a number of postings (and polls) that will be helpful.

I also hope, though, that a few of the regular readers who have been through a transplant recently can offer some advice or sketch out what they went through. I realize that will be helpful.
Good luck!
