Multiple myeloma specialists in the UK

by Spanish Mary on Sat May 07, 2016 6:11 pm

Hi everyone,

I am going to spend the summer in the UK and want to use the opportunity to see a multiple myeloma specialist whilst I'm there (we don't have any in my country). We will be North in the Manchester area, but I have no problem to travel elsewhere if necessary. Any suggestions would be welcome.

In the mean time, I watch and wait. My numbers are creeping up but thankfully still firmly in MGUS:

M-spike 1,4g/dL;
Lambda light chains 74 mg/L and ratio 5.5.

The good news is that my neutrophils, which have hovered between 1.0 and 1.2, are now 1.68.

Kind regards,
Spanish Mary

Hello,

I'm in the UK near Leeds in North England, I've seen Professor Cook at St. James Hospital in Leeds for my smoldering myeloma. I also believe Newcastle is another good centre as well.

Hope this helps a little,
Helen :D

This thread has a list of leading multiple myeloma specialists in most of the major countries around the world:

There are many that are listed who are based in the UK.

Thank you Helen and Jonah. I knew the list existed but couldn't lay my hands on it. Much appreciated :D
