I was diagnosed with MGUS, IgA lambda, in 2003. I have moved to the South Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. My 6 monthly appointment is due and I am looking for a multiple myeloma specialist.
I was told that the best doctors are at the Alfred Hospital. Can anyone confirm this, or can anyone recommend a good specialist?

Re: Multiple myeloma specialist - Melbourne Australia?
Welcome to the forum, Wendy.
Please follow this link to a list of members of the International Myeloma Working Group maintained here in the forum. You'll see that there are several myeloma specialists from Australia who are in the list, including Dr. Andrew Spencer, who is at the The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
In addition, you might also consider Dr. Simon Harrison, who is at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
There are a number of forum participants who are from Australia, and we're sure they may have additional recommendations for you.
Good luck, and please let us know if you have any further questions we can help you with.

Thank you for your reply. I'm still learning to navigate around the forum and didn't realise it was available right here. Really appreciate your help.

Hi Wendy,
I am in Melbourne and going through diagnosis now. Who did you end up going with?

Re: Multiple myeloma specialist - Melbourne Australia?
Hi Wendy,
Early last year I changed to Dr Andrew Spencer and am very glad I did. He actually listens to you and explains things very well and doesn't hurry you. I have IgM MGUS, not myeloma, and he doesn't make me feel I'm not sick enough to be to be taking up his time like the last one I saw in Frankston. I see him in his rooms across from Epworth Hospital. I'll be seeing him again in a few weeks.
Wishing you all the best, Loretta
