Multiple myeloma clinical trial experiences?

My aunt has been battling multiple myeloma since the summer of 2011, formally diagnosed September 2011. She has exhausted all the conventional drugs like Velcade and thalidomide. She recently started a clinical trial drug (I don't know the name), but it stopped working since 2 weeks ago. She is supposed to start another clinical trial drug next Monday. Anyone have experience with this?

She's also currently in ER, went in because of high fever and chills, and they are performing a spinal tap today. They initially thought it was pneumonia and a urinary tract infection because they detected infection in her urine, but now they don't think that's the case. She's still very lucid and all her bowl functions are relatively normal, but of course tired a lot.

Just wondering if anyone have anything to share? Thanks!

Three new drugs have been approved in about the last month. I would hope that your aunt's doctor's are aware of that. In your aunt's case, I would think that daratumamb might be the # 1 option. Another option might be elotuzumab. You can find a good deal more info in the news section of the Beacon. Good luck.
