I have my stem cell transplant in two days. I have read all about the ice and popsicles before, during, and after the melphalan conditioning. I have also been told about a product called MuGuard that coats the throat during chemo. Has anyone used MuGuard during their melphalan infusion?

Re: MuGuard during melphalan infusion - experiences?
Hi Aclinkboca.
We don't have MuGard here but have something similar. During the chemo, my hubby was eating popsicles. He started ten minutes before and finished ten minutes after. Half an hour after the chemo, he was given special mouthwash to use 5-6 times a day, every day. He's now Day +6 and so far there's no signs of oral mucositis.
Good luck on your transplant journey.

That is wonderful that your husband had no mouth sores. Thank you for sharing.
