Good evening,
My husband was diagnosed in June 2014 with ALL (acute lymphocytic leukemia). He underwent the Hyper CVAD therapy plan and in December 2014 he received a donor (allogeneic) transplant.
Everything has been going very well for the last year and a half until a month ago. He started having back aches and some numbness, lightheadedness, and some minor GVHD symptoms. The last two Sundays he's had MRIs. One and then a second for more images. The reports indicate bony tissue lesions on his illium and illiac. Specific size was mentioned and possible marrow infiltration.
I was hoping someone could help me understand what this is. I viewed the report via patient portal and am not familiar with the medical terminology. I left two messages for the nurses and mid level staff and I also sent a message to his BMT doctor via the portal. No one has called back so naturally, I am concerned.

Re: MRI indicates bony tissue lesions on ilium & iliac
Abeucher,
I'm not a doc, but the way I understand it is that bone lesions typically occur in pediatric ALL patients, but it is not unheard of for them to also appear in adult ALL patients.
Did the radiological report specifically mention multiple myeloma or ALL as a suspected cause of the lesions? If the doctors do want to rule out multiple myeloma as a potential cause for the lesions, the screening tests for multiple myeloma are pretty simple.
In any case, I'm afraid this is simply one of those situations where you will need to wait for the experts to get back to you with their findings.
Please let us know how things turn out and good luck.
