Mother is 9 years post diagnosis, but suffering a lot

by Lamees on Mon Feb 13, 2017 3:08 pm

Nine years ago my mother was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. She went on chemo and 18 months ago she was told that she is doing good and the multiple myeloma is gone. Since then she has gone from bad to worse. Her left arm stopped functioning, then her left leg. .She then developed continuous bladder infections. A catheter was inserted, but she had too much pain. The catheter was then inserted through a hole in her bladder.

It has now been 5 months and she is getting worse. The pain from the catheter is excruciating and her bottom burns all the time. The urologist told her that if they remove the catheter she may die of infection. Her mouth is dry all the time and her speech is affected too by dryness of her tongue. She is vomiting continuously, has no appetite, and can no longer control her bowels. Her blood sample has now gone for culture to test for amyloidosis. She has so much pain is losing weight all the time.
