I frequently have morning dizziness. My head feels like it is in a bubble or a helmet. It may last for 1 to 5 hours and the only solution seems to be to take a nap.
I am being treated for multiple myeloma with Pomalyst (pomalidomide) and dexamethasone (Decadron), both of which are known to cause dizziness. The mystery is why this happens sporadically and in no relation to the ingestion of any of the drugs. Some days I'm fine and some days I am not.
I have had three myeloma treatment regimens, including Velcade. Pomalyst has kept me in "stable condition" for more than a year. My M-protein is 0.4 g/dL and has remained so for that duration. All of my regular lab tests are within normal limits, as are the light chain tests.
A neurologist has ordered a brain MRI, which will be done on July 6. I have been seen by an ophthalmologist who said that my eyes may be drying out too much which can cause dizziness. He prescribed eyedrops for the evening and the morning. Sometimes they help, sometimes they don't. Sometimes cannabis helps.
Neither my general practitioner nor oncologist has any suggestions. I have done some research and found that there is a variation of chronic fatigue syndrome, which can affect myeloma patients.
I welcome any suggestions or advice.
