Monroe Thomas
I met Monroe in church one Sunday in early February. He was in a wheelchair and I sat in front of him. At one of the breaks, he was telling someone who stopped by about his leg just suddenly breaking. As someone who is currently smoldering, I turned around and asked "Do you have Multiple Myeloma?" That question started a new friendship that sadly proved to be short lived. I believe he was diagnosed around last November with Multiple Myeloma, stage 3. By the time I met him, he was in his first round of treatment and his leg was starting to heal. I saw him almost every Sunday, at least until the last 3 weeks of his life. At one point they thought he was in remission. I don't know if that was an error or if it was just a very short one. He declined quickly and passed away the first weekend in May. He is with the Lord now in Heaven, but he had a lot of friends on this earth and we miss him.

Re: Monroe Thomas
Thanks for sharing the sad story:( we love to hear good news of people going to live with Jesus though. And that is the most important thing in the end. How old was Monroe? I'm wishing you lots of great health!

Re: Monroe Thomas
He was just 56 years old. He initially received very aggressive treatment, although I don't know specifically what drugs. He told me sometime in March that he was in remission. The last Sunday I saw him (mid-April) he had obviously dropped a LOT of weight in a short period of time. His passing was very peaceful and he was with family in his own home. Now he is in the home of Our Lord and Savior.
