Re: Mom just diagnosed with extramedullary myeloma
I have been thinking these last few weeks about the options laid out before us. My mom has chosen to fight and is giving EPOCH with Kyprolis another go. Vincristine is out and Cytoxin is halfed, so we will see how she does. My thoughts have been these... how does anyone decide what to do when given an option of fighting, with distressed quality of living, or stopping and letting nature take its course? Who is strong enough to make those decisions? Who wouldn't be scared to death faced with those monumental choices? My poor mom asks us almost daily to repeat what her doctor said about prognosis the last meeting. She is still so full of hope and is not ready to give up. The mental toll is horrible. I am not sure how she can keep it together. I know we all struggle to be as upbeat and positive as we can; and we vowed to everything possible for her no matter what she decides and this progresses....but how? How do you ever really make those kinds of decisions....
Re: Mom just diagnosed with extramedullary myeloma
We lost our precious, beautiful Momma yesterday. Exactly one week after her last doctors visit to decide chemo wasnt working and it was time for Hospice. Hospice was started Tuesday evening. She was in her own room in her own bed as we promised through earlier discussions. It was the longest, fastest week of our lives. Thank you Myeloma Beacon for your help and for giving us all a place to share our journey. I wish you all the very best possible outcome.
