MMR

I posted a question a few months ago about vaccines. I found out today that my transplant doctor says I can't have live vaccines. Only inactivated ones. Does anyone know why? Some people have written that they did receive the MMR a few years down the road. Just wonder what the rationale is with both options.

Hello,

Live vaccines are attenuated (weakened) vaccines that in a person who is immunocomprised, will do its job. In persons whose immune systems are impaired, the attentuated vaccine may still be able to cause disease.
