MGUS or smoldering multiple myeloma?

by Jerry Kotkowski on Tue Apr 07, 2015 7:58 pm

Bone marrow biopsy (BMB) results were 6% plasma cells from aspirate and 5-10% from the core sample. Do you think this is MGUS or smoldering multiple myeloma?

Most criteria I have seen says > or = 10 % is smoldering myeloma, but what if you are given a range of 5-10 %.

This was also the second reading of the same slides and the first report only said 2% from aspirate.

MGUS. Generally the range of 5-10% means the average is somewhere in between.
