I was diagnosed with MGUS about a month ago. I had extensive blood tests that showed low levels of protein in my urine and blood. The doctor said my level was at 400. I had a full bone x-ray series which was completely negative. The doctor gave me the option of a bone marrow biopsy, but really urged me to wait as she felt like all my labs pointed to things being not worrisome.
Meanwhile, I went to a slightly more advanced yoga class than usual and during a strenuous twist hurt my back. (I've had problems on my right side for over a decade after a ski injury and now manage it with physical therapy, though there were many cortisone shots before I figured out how to keep it in check.) I was in bed for three days, then the stiffness subsided, with a little bit of residual nerve pain and numbness, which really mirrors what I had when I hurt myself skiing.
Yesterday, my shin began to hurt-- not horribly, but annoyingly--a bit like shin splints, but the pain reminds me a bit of when I had a stress fracture in my 20's. Of course, this has me terribly freaked out and my doc is on vacation this week. I'll be seeing her next Tuesday. I work out regularly, walk miles every day on hard concrete, so something always hurts and it is hard to tell if I'm making things up or if something is really wrong.
Meanwhile, I'm arranging an appointment with a myeloma specialist in la (I live in new york)
Anyone else with MGUS having shin pain?

Re: MGUS and shin pain
I am considered smoldering / border line Stage 1. I have had lots of aches and pains everywhere. A lot of that is due to just an active lifestyle and trying to stay strong. With age and exercise does come pain.
However, it is a great idea to get to the doctor as soon as possible to rule out issues. The latest pain was in my shoulder. They think is not from lesions but from a lung infection that caused a nodule as large as a ping pong ball in my right lung.
Best to get any pains checked out.
Hope all comes out just fine, and it is nothing more than the need to walk on a soft trail rather than the sidewalk!
