MGUS & 9/11 WTC Aftermath @ Liberty State Park

by CindyMindy on Thu Jul 25, 2013 2:15 pm

Hello,

I was curious to know, if anyone has heard of a possible connection of MGUS and those who worked at the Victim's Assistance program that was set up across the river from Ground Zero, at the Liberty State Park immediately following the attack.

I was 27 when I worked there for 3 days, and 2 years later, was told I had MGUS (IgM Gammopathy), when my neurologist was running tests to find out why my feet had been swelling and tingling for months. Thank goodness I am 39 and still in MGUS stage. I only thought about this possible connection recently since I do not have a family history and tested negative to all diseases associated with it.

Thank you.

Have there been any connections with people who simply visited the site soon after 9/11 ? I know it's a long shot. because any exposure would be so limited but...your question and the link to the article made me curious. My husband was there soon after, while clean-up was still happening, and again a few months later. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma a year ago but had symptoms for some time prior.
