I searched for "meditation" on this forum and didn't see many threads at all. I've really worked on eating healthier and keeping up with my exercise. I try to de-stress / stay calm (hard to do in the annoying traffic around here!), but was wondering what sort of experience there is with meditation in people with smoldering multiple myeloma.
I feel like that is one aspect of my life that is missing and could maybe (hopefully) help keep me in the smoldering phase for a long time. I've made it 3 years so far and I know that stress can play a role in overall health.
Is there any evidence or experiences that meditation is helpful in smoldering multiple myeloma?
Thanks.

Re: Meditation and smoldering multiple myeloma
Hi FingersCrossed,
I don't know if mediation will help keep us who have smoldering multiple myeloma, but it certainly won't hurt. I am entering year 4 of having smoldering myeloma. I think anything we do to make our body and minds stronger will help us all around, even if heaven forbid we progress. I meditate when I feel stressed, usually around testing time.

Re: Meditation and smoldering multiple myeloma
Interesting question, and I doubt you will find any hard evidence or direct correlation, but certainly meditation cannot hurt.
Around my diagnosis over a year ago, I started doing some meditation, but since I have a hard time sitting in one spot, what I do is a ridiculously slow walking for 15 minutes. Now, I try to do it barefoot outside. Can't say it helps, or that it really is a meditation (as my mind races as always), but I still stick to it and try to do daily.
I guess the way to go is to attend a transcendental meditation session and get that going, but I did not go that far yet.
I also had a few Reiki sessions done by a friend (not anymore), and tried qigong as well as some prayers.
All of the above approach - not sure I am getting anywhere (got laid off work and stomach issues), though my high-risk smoldering multiple myeloma seems to remain stable, thankfully.
Reiki friend thinks that mind controls everything. I am certainly not there yet, but thinking that doing something in that regard is better than nothing
All the best!
