I heard that Medicare will now allow stem cells to be harvested and stored without immediate use. Does anyone know if this is true and if so, when did or will this change take place? My insurance coverage will not allow for storage but if Medicare does allow for storage I will definitely make a change.
I appreciate any information that you may have on this subject.
Thanks,

Re: Medicare and stem cell harvesting
My understanding is that this Medicare policy is true.

Arnie also shed some good light on the subject of Medicare and transplants some time back:

It does drive one crazy trying to figure out the best path for insurance with this nasty disease. Medicare has many pitfalls when it comes to providing coverage for myeloma, and not just in the area of transplants.
Choose carefully and best of luck to you.
