Hi, All.
I'm an Australian retiree. I received a tentative diagnosis of multiple myeloma from my GP a few weeks ago, and I'm still waiting to see a haematologist to get the full story. I haven't told family or friends yet, so I don't know how they'll react. Decided not to say anything until I get a firm diagnosis. My GP mentioned MGUS, and if it turns out to be that, I'll just keep it to myself.
Anyway, glad I found this forum. Hope to exchange views from time to time. Cheers.

Re: Maybe multiple myeloma, maybe MGUS
Welcome to the forum, Milo.
In case you haven't seen them already, check out the posts at the top of the "Do I have multiple myeloma section of the forum" They summarize the criteria for diagnoses of multiple myeloma, smoldering multiple myeloma, and MGUS.
You probably already have had many of the tests needed to give you insight into what your diagnosis may be. Reviewing the posts and the links in them also will give you a better idea what questions to ask at your upcoming hematologist appointment.
Good luck!

Re: Maybe multiple myeloma, maybe MGUS
Thanks, Terry, for the welcome and tip. I've only had a simple blood / urine test so far, and I asked for it, not my GP. I should add that her diagnosis was more speculation than actual diagnosis.
Actually, I'm making a point of not reading too much about the odds until I see the haematologist. I'll certainly be cross-examining him when I see him, in two weeks. Meanwhile, I don't want to get too optimistic or too pessimistic.
My policy is "Expect the worst and hope for the best."
Cheers.
