Make peace and live in the moment

by sarlette on Mon Nov 18, 2013 9:15 am

I have been diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2010. With a kidney function of 20% at the time, I received treatment. In 2011 I received a bone marrow transplant which left me in remission for 2 years.

My kidney function dropped to 7% and my doctor put me on blood dialysis for a month and then I received peridontal dialysis for 6 months. I was an aeorbic instructor before for 20 years and could not live with all these tubes and made a decision to have it removed and follow a kidney friendly diet. My kidney function is 15% at the moment.

I had a relapse in July 2013 and received Velcade for 12 weeks. The multiple myeloma count is 15, which my doctor is happy with, for now.

To cope with multiple myeloma is a mental battle to stay positive and keep your faith each and every moment of a day. Tiredness is the biggest source of multiple myeloma to me. I am blessed with no pain and still have strong bones.

To every one out there with multiple myeloma, make peace, live in the moment with faith, and enjoy the good times intensely.

Thanks for the message sarlette...I'm just getting started...and quickly seeing that establishing all of my hopes and dreams upon lab numbers and other things that aren't given is not the way to live. Bests things in life are happening right now.
