M-spike found in blood work

by Concerned Daughter on Thu Sep 03, 2015 2:26 pm

My mom shows M-spike in her blood work and they are giving her a treatment to see what happens after 4 of them. All her other levels came out extremely low. She has extreme pain in her bones, really bad headaches, and dripping sweat at times. I do know they found a mass on her kidney which is also being looked at.

Anyone have suggestions?

Concerned Daughter,

I take it you are new to the forum? I realize it must be a scary time for you and your mom. But keep in mind that modern multiple myeloma treatments under the guidance of a good multiple myeloma specialist can yield quite excellent responses these days.

It's a bit hard to comment further with this scant information. But as just about everyone on this forum will suggest, the most important thing your mom can do is to be working with a top multiple myeloma specialist (not just an oncologist and/or hematologist that might also treat multiple myeloma). If you let us know what city your mom is in, folks on the forum can make some recommendations on where to find these docs.

If you want to try to get more up to speed on multiple myeloma, this handbook is a good place to start.

Lastly, you might want to consider registering and logging into this forum so that folks can see your earlier posts, if there are any, in order to better help you.
