M-spike Detection limit

by hp1610 on Mon Jan 31, 2011 8:20 am

Hi,
I'm now in the middle of my VTD course and my IGG and M-spike numbers shows very good response.
Lately, while my Igg numbers continue to shrink (800 -> 750 -> 700 in the past two months), my last M-spike number was 0.35 1.5 month ago but since then, my latest two lab results returned w/o any value. Since so far there was a very close correlation between the Igg decrease and the M-Spike decrease, I tend to belive that the M-Spike values keep on decreasing as well. BTW, The immunofixation test still shows known segment of monoclonal proteins.
So my question is: What is the detection limit of the standard electrophoresis test? is it a matter of equipment type or of the method?

Thank you very much,

HP
