M-protein level at harvest - impact on time to relapse

by kevinc on Fri Dec 20, 2013 1:09 pm

Has anyone heard that the level of your m protein (M-spike) at the time of harvesting can potentially effect how long after the stem cell transplant till the next relapse? The closer to 0 the number is the longer till the next relapse? I'd heard this at a recent conference I was at and I just wanted to verify.

At my harvesting my m protein was about .8, I go in for my SCT on January 1 and my m protein is currently .2. I know there are differing opinions on this subject out there so I would like to hear from the Beacon community.

Thanks

Like you my mspike was .2 when I had a transplant this last January. I'm now at .4 and my light chains are slowly increasing and I've been on Revlimid maintenance for 6 months. So, in my case the SCT did little for me.
