Lymph nodes

by Tambu on Wed Oct 09, 2013 8:38 am

Hello, my brother was diagonised with multiple myeloma in 2011. He had been having back operations one in 2007 and another in 2010. In October 2011 he fractured his femur, as well as six ribs. His doctor gave him approximately 3months to live which made him resign to any kind of medication. After 2 months stay in hospital on anti biotics and tablets for pain, he got discharged but unfortunately was paralyzed from waist downwards.
Miraculously all ribs healed by themselves, the femur healed as well. We tried physio therapy but unfortunately he could not walk.
We are not privileged with getting medical information, thanks to this platform. My brother is under my care and surprising instead of seeing negative physical deterioration, he has grown relatively healthy though a bit overweight maybe from lack of activity. I can't take him back to the same hospital because he refused medication in the first place and the hospital won't accept him unless he under goes chemo.
From two days ago he has lost all sense of taste and has developed some leaf nods behind his ears. Could this be an infection or its one of symptoms of advanced myeloma?

I think you mean lymph nodes? I know lymph nodes get swollen when you have an infection but I don't know if that will happen as a direct result of multiple myeloma. Is your brother receiving any kind of alternative therapy?
