My wife has a steadily rising MGUS (IgG kappa) with chronic idiopathic neutropenia. Neutrophils are one of the 5 subtypes of white blood cells. She normally now has a 3.0 WBC each week before her weekly injection of Neupogen. She has had a WBC as low as 1.5.
Certain antibiotics affect your WBC temporarily. Your hematologist is monitoring your WBC and its components with every CBC Differential. Look at the 5 components (absolute numbers versus percentages) of your WBC and discuss low readings with your doctor if you remain under 4.0 with your WBC.
The five subtypes of white blood cells are neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils.
