Low lambda, normal kappa free light chain levels

by Lisalanette on Tue Apr 26, 2016 1:56 am

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read this.

I have had multiple health conditions for many many years. Recently I was referred to a rheumatologist two hours from my home who is supposed to be top notch. Anyhow he ran a myriad of blood tests. So, after a week, I asked if they could send me the tests that were already in. I had no idea what they were but after research I found out they were Free Lambda and Free Kappa and the IgG, IgA etc.

My lambda was low at 3.15 and kappa was normal 6.23, and my IgG and IgA were both low below normal range.

*** Addition: White blood Cells Elevated - 12.9 (no known infection etc)

Anyhow, my question is what exactly does this mean? It seems most discussions are about elevated kappa / lambda.

I went back on to my patient account the day after my bloodwork was posted and they had taken it down, which was weird. I don't go back for a follow up until the end of May, and I just am a need-to-know kind of person, so if anyone can give me any hints on the probability of multiple myeloma or any other disorder this might show, I would greatly appreciate it. It's just the low lambda that is confusing to me.

Thank you so much. Sorry if this is a redundant post.
